So that is what a weekend is...

So this past weekend was my first weekend off (without taking vacation time) in a year.  Well that's a lie, I had the weekend of Thanksgiving off because of holiday scheduling.  So my weekend went a little like this, Friday night I came home from the hospital (had the port put in and lungs drained), Travey met my mom so she didn't have to drive me all the way home, we picked up Subway for dinner, I was starving as I couldn't eat or drink anything all day and it was close to 7pm by this time.  We got home, I inhaled my turkey sub and we watched The Biggest Loser, I fell asleep about 3 times and headed to bed at 845pm.  We slept in on Saturday morning.  It was wonderful.  I drank coffee, Travey made breakfast and we just hung around the house.  We made a menu for the week and headed to the grocery store.  We shopped, always an adventure with Travey, picked up some red box movies and came home.

I finished reading The Hunger Games, I know everyone else in the world has read it, #alwayslatetotheparty.  I'm looking for the second one if anyone wants to share.  It's checked out of the school library and I don't have a library card, I don't think our little town has a library that's open (regular hours).  We watched a movie Contraband with Mark Wahlberg.  Not going to lie, I like him.  We cooked dinner steak fajitas and watched a second movie Premum Rush, also a good movie.  Travey fell asleep on the couch, I went to bed and read until midnight.  I was reading Jen Lancaster's book If You Were Here, she's really funny.  I think I have read all of her books.
And Sunday, I didn't have to get up and go to work.  It was wonderful, I slept in, I made breakfast omelettes with leftover peppers, onions and steak from the fajitas.   My friend Kelli came over and we went for a walk in the afternoon, Travey returned the movies and filled my car with gas while we were gone.  My family was coming over for dinner, Yay, I can participate in Sunday night dinners again, we made pork roast, scallop potatoes and salad and I made this delish dessert that I was going to make over Christmas, but never had time to.  It's so easy and so good, I made it without the pecans.  My nephews were fun, Quinn is full of energy and Stuart or Steward as he calls him hid in the spare room under the bed.  It was a great weekend, I'm recovering well.  I had the nurse check my port incision today to make sure it was healing and not infected as we took of the tape and didn't cover it after Saturday (it still has steri strips on it) as the tape was making me red, bruised and hurt a lot, stupid sensitive skin.
This morning as I was checking facebook all of most of some of my friends registered for Run Vermont's Unplugged half marathon for early April.  It's a fun one, I did it last year, but had to pass this year as I'm super hopeful, but not sure where my running will be in April.  I am registered for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in Washington DC the weekend of April 7...
Tonight dinner is chicken pie :)

  3. Christa, I have all three of the Hunger Games books for an eReader. If you have a Kindle or Nook, I have lots of books that will work.

I also sent you a book that I thought you might like called, "The Dog Lived (and So Will I)." I saw it right after I read your last blog, and immediately thought of you. I hope you like it.

    Love,
    Mick

  6. I'm hoping you can do Cherry Blossom! Stuart is so cute! That picture is precious.
I have never heard of Jen Lancaster. I will have to look her up. Did you start your new job? I just read a book that takes place in Bolton's Landing. It's a thriller and I read it in a day.
